Department Introduction
The Department of IR& History is one of the prominent departments in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in the Women University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Bagh. It offers courses ranging from BS aiming at initiating MPhil preparing the students to contribute in formulation of the country's future foreign policies.
The Department has been established in 2016. Despite the limited resources, infrastructure, faculty and administrative staff, department proved its importance and sound functioning in a short period of time. The establishment of department of International Relations in first ever female University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was the pragmatic step to explore visionary and intellectual international relations erudition. An understanding of International Relations is of critical importance in social sciences and absolutely necessity for anyone interested in areas at national level, regional level and international level regarding international politics, international institutions, United Nations, diplomacy, foreign policy, political economy, international law, environmental concerns in academia, private sector and many other.

Our vision is to establish a platform for young emerging scholars to understand domestic and global dynamics of international system through academic excellence. The insights of these intellectuals would play a significant role in transforming traditional as well as non-traditional security concerns at domestic, national, regional and international endangering world progress and prosperity, peace and security.
Mission
The mission of the department of International Relations WUAJ&K is to provide an excellent platform where the Women from Azad Jammu and Kashmir can pursue their academic career in the world’s most leading and relevant discipline of 21st century effecting the socio-economic and political wellbeing of mankind. The mission is to enable these young ladies through this diverse discipline to grasp and comprehensively recognize the underlying causes of the socio-economic and political issues faced by humanity throughout the entire planet. This in further would reflect in their efforts to cure the ailments (religious, political, cultural, social, economic and legal) hindering the world progress, prosperity, peace and security.
Objectives
The syllabus of the subject is designed by keeping in view the following objectives.
1. To familiarize students in having a sound knowledge of the subject and all the
emerging trends in the discipline of International Relations.
2. To have a broader view of other disciplines of social as well as physical sciences. It will enable the students to interact with other branches of knowledge and strengthen their understanding of the society.
3. To equip the students with essential tools and techniques of research. It will enable them to analyze any given situation/issue and suggest its possible solutions.
4. To empower them to establish and develop a viable linkage between theory/concepts and practice in the field.
5. To comprehend various economic, political, social, cultural, religious, legal, ecological, business behaviors, Public policy, global conflicts, global security concerns, environmental sustainability, educational and gender based issues at the state level, regional level and international level.
6. 1. To develop critical thinking skills and creativity among our students in order to enhance communication skills of our students
7. To provide training that would enable students to make a significant contribution in the future.

BS International Relations &History (BS 2 Years Lateral Entry Program)
▼Program Introduction
BS IR (lateral entry is a two years’ degree program comprising of four regular semesters covering almost 133-140 credit hours. Students with degree of B.Sc. / B.A. / B. Com or equivalent are given admission in this program. Along with the four regular semesters, university may offer summer sessions to provide opportunities to the students who fail or withdraw a course and those who wish to improve their grades.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria for BS (IR) 2 years lateral entry is B.Sc. / B.A. / B. Com or equivalent. The normal duration for completion of BS IR (Lateral degree) is 04 semesters over a period of 02 years. The maximum duration for obtaining BS IR degree shall be 03 years.

BS International Relations &History (4 Years Program)

BS IR&H is a four years degree program comprising of eight regular semesters covering almost 120-135 credit hours. Students with degree of F.Sc. / F.A. / I.Com / A. levels or equivalent are given admission in this program. Along with the eight regular semesters, university may offer summer sessions to provide opportunities to the students who fail or withdraw a course and those who wish to improve their grades.
