DETAILS OF RECENT PROJECTS(WUAJK FACULTY)

The Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) has been set up under the administration of Higher Education Commission (HEC). It aims at evolving the excessive practice of research based projects in the University for developing the culture of discoveries and innovations in the society. ORIC facilitate research prospects for its faculty members thereby, encouraging them to opt for research grants and endowments to pursue research in their fields to benefit not only the university, its students but for the mankind also. ORIC provides them the platform where they can follow their dreams of carrying out excessive exploration and exploitation in any field through administrative, legal, as well as financial assistance. Furthermore, ORIC is also assisting in the commercialization and licensing of the WUAJ&K research fields. It acts as a focal point for all sort of exploration projects in creating linkages with the funds donating agencies. It also plays the pivotal role in the establishment of joint collaborations with other institutes. ORIC holds the absolute accountability in characterizing new ways and means of coordination in the areas of Biological, Medical, Natural and Social Sciences. Moreover, it intends at creating responsiveness with respect to the continuous research in WUBAJK, empowering University-Industry associations and foundation of Hubs of Excellence in the state. Till now WUAJK has signed MoU with various universities of Pakistan for research collaboration and exchange of knowledge.

Objectives

ORIC has self-adopted its mandate to seek to enhance the environment for all research activities and scholarship schemes by:-

• Developing the university’s strategic research directions and policies.
• Increasing and diversifying external research funding.
• Improving integration of research and education at all levels of the university.
• Improving translation of research into the public benefit.
• Strengthening university-industry relationships.
• Promoting entrepreneurship, technology-transfer and commercialization activities that energize and support the local and national economy.
• Promoting and enhancing cross-cutting and multi-disciplinary research initiatives while working out incentives and awards’ schemes for world class research and publications.
• To critically enhance research activities in WUAJK’s Departments and also protect intellectual property generated as a result of research activities.

ORIC, Women University of AJ&K has played its role in collaborating with various private and government sector organizations to meet one of its prime objectives i.e. building up a strong university linkage.
