About Us

Women University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Bagh was established in 2014 under the Women University of AJ&K Bagh Act (VII) of 2014, with the vision to provide quality higher education to the female students of the region. The University is committed to fostering intellectual growth, personal development, and moral integrity among students, preparing them to become transformational leaders with strong ethical and cultural values.

The University aims to offer a conducive learning environment through academically rigorous and skill-oriented programs, ensuring that both faculty and students are equipped to meet contemporary challenges in education and research.

As part of its mission to contribute to regional and national development, the University focuses on the empowerment of women through high-quality education, professional training, and leadership development. Students are encouraged to play an active role in community engagement and social betterment.

In its early years, the University faced accute infrastructure challenges, primarily due to the lack of available land. However, it has since made substantial progress with the acquisition of 2,025 kanals of land, and the construction of permanent facilities is now underway in two phases.  It is anticipated that, in the near future, the administrative offices and academic departments will be relocated to the University's own purpose-built blocks.

Since possession of land in 2021 the construction process started and an  academic block comprises on 50000 sft, administration block 30000 sft,  Library 18000 sft, and Cafeteria  5000 sft will be completed by October 2025.  Two hostels having capacity of 400 students and academic block II are expected to be handed over at the end of this year.All this progress had a significant milestone in its development and strengthening of the university in future.

In terms of academic infrastructure, the University has introduced several enhancements, including state-of-the-art laboratories, a modern library, a video conferencing room, a seminar hall, and technologically equipped classrooms designed to support effective teaching and learning experiences.
