About Us

Women University of AJ&K Bagh has been established in 2014 under Women University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Bagh Act (VII) of 2014 to provide opportunities of quality higher education and research activities for women in the region. This is the only female university of the state. It currently has Faculty of Science and Technology and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences under which 14 departments operate.

On 03 June 2020, Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Abdul Hamid assumed the charge of university as 2nd tenured Vice Chancellor. So far, the university has very limited infrastructure as the permanent buildings for university could not be constructed due to unavailability of land. However, so far more than 5000 students have been enrolled in 36 degree programs at under graduate, graduate and post graduate levels. The university has added a variety of up-to-date books, a video conference room, a seminar hall, Labs for sciences and computer sciences and classrooms are equipped with state of the art furniture and scientific equipment to make the learning process smoother. The acquisition of land for university is in process. Govt. of AJ&K has allocated 2025 kanals of land at District Headquarters Bagh for construction of this university. So far, university is operating at five different locations within the radius of one kilometer.
