Kashmir Solidarity Day   2024/02/06

Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed annually on February 5th to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir and to commemorate their struggle for self-determination. In conjunction with this significant day, Women University of AJ&K Bagh organized an interdepartmental speech competition to foster awareness and understanding about the Kashmir issue among students and faculty. The primary objective of the interdepartmental speech competition was to provide a platform for students to articulate their views on the Kashmir issue, express solidarity with the people of Kashmir, and encourage informed discourse on the topic.

Event organized a February 6th, 2024 in Youth Development Centre. Students from various departments participated in Competition both in Urdu & English Medium. Panel of three faculty members judged this Competition. The event commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthems to invoke a sense of unity and patriotism among the participants and audience members.

The event began with a warm welcome address by the Director of Student Affairs, emphasizing the significance of Kashmir Solidarity Day and the importance of understanding and addressing the Kashmir issue. Participants from different departments delivered insightful speeches, offering diverse perspectives on the Kashmir conflict, its historical background, human rights violations, and the need for a peaceful resolution. The speeches were well-researched, thought-provoking, and reflective of the participants' deep understanding of the issue.

Following the speeches, a constructive interdepartmental dialogue was facilitated, allowing participants to engage in a respectful exchange of ideas, share personal experiences, and raise pertinent questions related to the Kashmir conflict. This interactive session encouraged critical thinking and promoted empathy and understanding among students from various academic backgrounds. The speeches were evaluated based on criteria such as content, coherence, clarity of expression, originality of thought, and overall presentation. The judges, comprising esteemed faculty members, meticulously assessed each participant's performance and provided constructive feedback to enhance their oratory skills.

After careful deliberation, the judges announced the winners of the competition. Certificates were awarded to the top performers as a token of appreciation for their exceptional contributions. Additionally, certificates of participation were distributed to all participants to acknowledge their active involvement in the event. Dean Faculty extend his sincere gratitude to all the participants, faculty members, and organizers who contributed to the success of the event. He offered  special thanks to the judges for their invaluable insights and feedback. He looked forward to organizing more such events in the future to promote awareness, dialogue, and solidarity on pressing global issues.

The interdepartmental speech competition on Kashmir Solidarity Day served as a platform for constructive dialogue, intellectual exchange, and solidarity with the people of Kashmir. Through informed discourse and meaningful engagement, the event facilitated a deeper understanding of the Kashmir issue and underscored the importance of empathy, diplomacy, and peaceful conflict resolution. As we commemorate Kashmir Solidarity Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to advocating for the rights and aspirations of the people of Kashmir and working towards a just and lasting solution to the longstanding conflict.
